This quilt uses charm squares which are five inch square fabric precuts. Generally sold in a charm pack of 42 pieces, they come in a multitude of different fabrics and prints. While buying charm packs can be a quick task, you may prefer to cut your own from fabric from what you may already have. Fastest Charm Square Baby Quilt Tutorial
Knowing how to make the fastest baby quilt begins with 100 five-inch squares. Choose a simple monochromatic color scheme or select a multitude of fabrics for a scrappy look. It’s all about the look you choose so have fun picking out your fabrics! With your fabric squares cut and divided into groups of 25 pieces each you are ready to begin your quilt!
Step-by-Step Baby Quilt Tutorial
Step 1: (Make 4) Select 25 charm squares and arrange in desired layout of 5 blocks x 5 blocks.
Chain piece squares into five rows of five squares.
Press rows in opposite directions.
Step 2: Sew rows together nesting seams as you go.
Press seams in one direction.
Trim any uneven sides of the finished blocks.
Step 3: Fold two sides together to find the center in each direction.
Cut in both directions to create four smaller squares that measure about 11.25-inches.
Step 4: Rotate blocks #1 & #3 diagonally to put small corners to the outside. Sew the four squares together to create a single large block and press.
Step 5: Press seams and sew the four large squares together for your finished quilt.
